Discoveries Bible - Ephesians 6
6:1-3
Children, obey your parents, unless they tell you to disobey God. This is the right thing to do. In Exodus 20:12 we find the first commandment with a promise: “Do you want things to go well? Do you want to enjoy a long life here on earth? Then honor your father and mother.”
6:4
Of course, fathers, you have a responsibility to be the right kind of leader. Don't pick a fight with your kids. Don't ride on them. Don't hound them. Instead, inspire, encourage, train and instruct them to love the Lord and His ways.
6:5-8
Do you serve another human being? Understand what is really happening. Everything you do is credited as work done for the Lord Jesus Christ. So work with gusto. Work with enthusiasm. Work with diligence. Not just when the earthly master, employer or contractor is watching, but all the time, because Jesus sees what is done in secret, and He rewards everyone for the good done – whether you serve or you are being served.
6:9
Are you in charge of people? Remember that Jesus identifies Himself with the smallest of persons. How you treat those under you matters to Him. There's no room for threats or mistreatment because you will answer to God for your treatment of them whether good or bad.
6:10-18
One last thing: Find the strength God provides. We are connected to Him; that means we are connected to the power he provides. And that power is more than adequate for every challenge you will face. But arm yourself with it fully. Then the devil can't push you around with his crafty strategies. Yes, we fight, but not against human beings. We fight evil spirits organized to darken our world and attempting to get their own way even before God. A soldier wears a belt, body armor, boots, a helmet; and carries a weapons all for a reason. In the same way, you have been given truth, righteousness, good news, peace, faith, salvation and God's word for a reason. Carry them well, and none of the enemy's flaming arrows of deception, discouragement and temptation will harm you. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, pray. Pray all the time. Pray in every way. Pray for all your brothers and sisters in the Lord.
6:19-20
And don't forget to pray for me. Pray that God will give me words and courage so that I can bring this message of light into dark places. Yes, I'm in chains, but that doesn't trouble me. I'm still God's spokesman. But pray that I carry out my assignment without fear, just like Jesus would do.
6:21-22
I am sending our dear brother, Tychicus, to you. He can tell you all about how I'm doing and what's going on here. He's a good guy, diligently following the Lord. I know he will be an encouragement to you.
6:23-24
I leave this parting blessing and gift to you directly from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Peace, love and faith. Do you sincerely love Jesus? Then I leave with you the blessing of God's empowering goodness. And this blessing will stand.
