01-02-08 God doesn't quit -- Psalm 103:3
[God] forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases. -- Psalm 103:3We often focus on the terrible price Jesus paid so that our sins might be forgiven. This is important, but I think the Lord also wants us to see how much He values His children. This is the point of the story of the Prodigal Son. The father puts the best robe on his wayward son and puts a ring of authority on his finger.
God is in the business of reversing the effects of human sin. All of us have made terrible choices. But our bad choices are being swept away by the tide of God's grace. The fall and the curse touch each of us. But the story doesn't end there. God is at work.When you fall, or when you find a brother who has fallen, don't just look at the sin. Look at the God who is bigger and smarter and stronger than sin. And when you suffer, or when a loved one suffers, don't just look at the pain. Look to Jesus who understands pain and triumphed over it.
It takes a lifetime to understand verses like this, but know this: God doesn't quit until every one of His children rests in His healing and in His forgiveness.
