Discoveries Bible
When God speaks, every word is alive with meaning that will forever change your life. The best thing you can ever do is sit at the feet of Jesus and listen. Soak in what He has for you, and His life will overflow in you and change your world.
The Discoveries Bible is a paraphrase, not a translation. In a translation, a scholar gives careful attention to the meaning of words in their cultural context and seeks to find the best equivalent in another language. But, in a paraphrase, the writer seeks to take the meaning of those words and make it more accessible to the reader. Here the writer bumps up against two limitations: One, the writer's understanding of the intended meaning is limited. Two, every reader is different. What brings clarity to one may bring confusion to another. In others words, God's word is infallible, but this paraphrase is not. Don't rely on it to build your theology. Simply receive this as one writer's attempt to make the meaning clear, but please don't make this a substitute for studying translations and reading other paraphrases.
I've started with the book of Ephesians because it identifies, perhaps more than any other book, who we really are, yet the meaning it's lofty language is often hidden from those who read it. I hope to pull back the shades some and let the sun shine in. Enjoy!
