Your Book - Professionally Written By Me
Your book with your name on the cover

Let me show you how ...
... without writing a single sentence ...
... without spending a dime of your own money ...

your idea

We start here. You have a great idea for a book, but you don't have the time or inclination to write it. We've all been there. We all intuitively understand the value of authoring a book.
For centuries, people of influence have used books to spread their message, strengthen their credibility and build their cause.

Nearly everyone wants to write a book at some point.  But life happens. Launching a book takes time, money and writing skill.

What if you don't have the time and/or writing skill to write it? What do you do?

That's easy! You hire a ghostwriter like me. I charge $10,000 or more to write a book.

What if you don't have the money?

I'm glad you asked. Let me show you how to get it ...

your sponsors

Did you know that there are people out there who would be delighted to give you the money to pay my fee and to print your book? These same people would even be happy to help you sell your book after its printed. Did you know that?

These people are called sponsors. And let me show you how it works.

I'm going to give you some numbers for illustration purposes. These numbers should be pretty close to the mark, but understand that numbers are different for different people.

Let's say we plan a 144-page book for you. It's a great length - long enough to say something, short enough so people will actually read it.

We're going to find sponsors for each of those 144 pages. Each page sponsor will write you a check for $99.49. (I'll explain why in a moment.) Now, a given person can sponsor one, two, ten, twenty, fifty or more pages. But each page is $99.49 to sponsor. $99.49 is within the grasp of almost anybody - especially if you split it into three payments of  $33.17 each.

Your sponsors will give you enough money to pay the first $8500 of my fee. (We'll take care of the rest here in a minute - again, you don't need to spend a dime of your own money.) Your sponsors also give you enough money to print 2,000 copies of your book. You'll also have enough money to take care of some incidental expenses like book cover design.  Keep in mind, that you will have 2,000 copies of your book. I mention this because I think you're really going to like what happens with those 2,000 copies. I'll get to that in a minute.

Okay, let's get to the question I know you're asking. Why would anyone give you the money to author a book? Great question with five great answers.

First, your sponsors believe in the message of your book. Let's say you're writing a book on marriage. If your book is going to help save marriages, then your sponsors get to make a profound difference in someone's life with pocket change. Ask yourself a question: If you knew right now that you could spend $99.49 to save someone's marriage, wouldn't you do it? I don't know, of course, but I bet you would. We all want to make a difference. We all want to invest in people's lives in ways that will bring about good and lasting change.

Second, your sponsors understand that their gift to you will be multiplied. They see that a $99.49 gift can grow into $200, $300, $500, $1,000 or more without them ever investing another penny. Why? Because they will get you started with a profit center that can keep on growing - a book that makes a difference in many lives. They are empowering you to raise money to advance your cause or fund your ministry.

Third, your sponsors get advertising value. There's many ways you can do this. You can list sponsors at the end of the book. You can offer people who sponsor multiple pages a display ad at the back of the book. They could get a full page ad, for example, if they sponsored ten pages. You could even list a separate sponsor at the bottom of each page. It really depends on you and how you want to set this up. A listing might look like this:
Dwight's Book Writing Service / Helping You Make a Difference / http://dwightclough.com

In some cases, your sponsors may not want the advertising value. They may prefer just to help you out and remain anonymous. You could offer to allow them to list their favorite charity. Their listing might look like this:
Anonymous, a supporter of World Vision, a humanitarian charitable ministry at http://www.wvi.org/

Fourth, your sponsors get a tax deduction. Businesses can write this off as an advertising expense. It comes right off the top for them. Businesses have a budget for this. They expect to do it, and they like being associated with good causes. It helps them build the kind of image they want to build.

If your sponsor is an individual, rather than a business, the tax deduction is for making a contribution to your 501(c)3 ministry. It appears under charitable contributions in the Schedule A of their Form 1040. If you don't have a ministry, you might be able to partner with a ministry or a church in the launch of your book.

Fifth, your sponsor gets a free copy of your book for every page they sponsor. You could also offer them the option of purchasing any number of additional copies at half price. Just a thought.

Another way to do this is to pay your sponsors back as you sell out the first printing. I don't necessarily recommend this, but you could set it up like that. In this case, the sponsorship would be treated as a loan rather than a grant. The tax deduction would not be present. In any case, I recommend you consult with your financial adviser to make sure you set this up properly and keep the right kind of records.

Who are your sponsors? The people in your circle of influence. The people who already believe in your cause, support you ministry, attend your events, stand behind what you stand for.

And here's my offer to you: If I like your book idea, and I think I can fit you into my book writing schedule, I'll help you create - free of charge - the documents you need when you sit down with potential sponsors. Normally, I would charge $500-$700 or more to write a letter and flier for you like this, but, if your book fits what I'm looking for, I'll do it for free.

What am I looking for? I help good people make a difference. I'm interested in helping Christians achieve their dreams and change their world. I love writing life stories, but I can work with all kinds of material. If your book fits into that, then I'm probably interested.

your book

Thanks to your sponsors, you've raised the money for me to write your book. What does that look like? First of all, relax. You don't have to write anything. I'm easy to work with. I can work from recordings of your presentations, from our conversations, from your notes, from original research - whatever. I respect your time. I make it easy for you. Revisions are no problem. I get it done for you. Once I get started I work on it every week until it gets done. I protect your interests with a letter of agreement. And, if either of us feels that it's not working out, we can walk away; I only charge for the work I've actually done. Some clients like to pay me in installments of $2,000 each. Others like to pay the whole fee.
Whatever works. I'm a zero pressure kind of guy. My only other fees are reimbursement for unusual expenses and a modest bestseller bonus if your book sells more than 10,000 copies. The bottom line is this: I treat you like a good friend.

Your dream of writing a book is coming true. I take the whole headache off your hands.

I focus on writing your book, but I'll point you in the right direction when it comes to printing and publishing. There are some pitfalls to avoid, and I want to steer you around them.

Once our process is complete, you will have 2,000 printed books. You'll give away 144 of those books to your page sponsors, and another 56 just for fun. That leaves you with 1,800 books to sell. The good news is this ... you're not selling those books by yourself.

You have help ...

money for your cause

Remember that you have 144 page sponsors who are just as interested in your book's success as you are. Because you were thinking ahead, you've already talked to your pages sponsors about potential buyers for your book. As the book was being written, you've taken advance orders. Chances are, you've already sold most or all of those 1,800 books. If you haven't, your page sponsors will help you.

Let's see how the money works. Remember, we're working with numbers for purposes of illustration, but this should be pretty close to the mark. Let's say you sell your book for $15 each. $15 x 1,800 books is $27,000.

Here's what we'll do with the $27,000. We'll take one dollar per book (for the first 1,800 only) and pay the rest of my fee. We'll set aside $4740 for another print run so you can make $27,000 all over again. That leaves you with $20,460 to advance your cause, fund your ministry, contribute toward your support.

All of this happened because someone else believed in your good idea and helped you make it happen.

I love stories with happy endings.

Now, let me take you back to the beginning, and give you a little worksheet you can use to help you think clearly about your book idea and get things rolling.

Easy start
Ten questions to help you get started.

Guess what! You don't even need to fill it out. You can just call me 608 - 469 - 4487 (at a reasonable hour Chicago time) and we'll go through this together. No problem.

Want to know a little more about me before you call. Again, no problem.

A community for visionaries

First of all, I'm a husband to Kim since 1978, a father of four teenagers, a member of Damascus  Road Church in Madison, Wisconsin, and a writer. Since 1983, I have worked with thousands of clients on all kinds of writing projects including resumes, letters, fliers, books, web pages and so on. In addition to working with clients on their own books, I've authored several books of my own. In 1991 I won first place in a national writing contest. I was my college's graduating class speaker. From 2002 to 2008, I authored a daily Christian devotional that is read by 500+ people in over 40 nations. In 2004, I founded Dwight Clough Ministries Inc., a 501(c)3 public charity to make encouraging spiritual growth resources and prayer ministry available to people worldwide. I've also launched Empower Good a community designed to empower emerging leaders to change their world.

I'm a national award winning writer, and I've written books, letters, fliers, resumes and web pages for thousands of clients since 1983. My clients have included a peak performance coach, nonprofit ministries, an architect, a microbiologist, pastors, an evangelist/prophet, survivors of abuse, and more - ordinary people and "celebrities."

Here are some reasons that people like working with me:

1. I take care of it for you. I make it easy for you. I sit down and talk with you, figure out what you need, and then take the whole headache off your hands.

2. I'm on your side. I'm also constantly looking for creative ways to help you move forward.

3. I'm a nice guy. I'm not pushy. I listen. I speak English. I tell you the truth. I love listening to your story. I'm easy to get along with. I have a family. I'm a person of integrity. My Christian faith permeates everything I do in a hopefully positive way. I care about doing good work for you. I really want to become an expert on you so I can take good care of your project for you.

You can always email me to discuss your book idea.

Here's what people are saying about me.

“It was such a great experience working with you. I know that the whole site, and ESPECIALLY the cemetery piece, is anointed because of your anointing. Please accept my most heartfelt thanks for all you have done (and for being so patient)! I know it was incredibly hard to "write for a writer" and you met the challenge -- and exceeded my expectations. You can be sure that you'll be hearing from me soon to help me with more enhancements to the site.”
Kathie Torres, Links of Utopia Ministries

"Dwight Clough is a man of integrity, skilled in his work. ...  I chose him to write my book, The Blue Collar Prophet, and hope to use his services again in the future.  I recommend his ministry and his website to anyone hungry for God."
Tom Stamman, Impact Ministries International

"I have deep appreciation for Dwight as a brother in Christ, and appreciate his obedience in using God-given gifts to serve others.  He is a great writer, particularly in the realm of storytelling.  He has the unique ability to connect with people and communicate his heart..."
Dr. Thomas A. Shaw, Friend and Co-author of Amazing Faith

"Don't let the blue jeans fool you. Dwight can write circles around people charging several times his fee."
Randy Beck, 6th degree black belt master and owner, Karate America Leadership School, Cottage Grove, Wisconsin

"I have known Dwight Clough for 30 years - including many years working together - he is a creative and godly man of integrity ...  He is also a talented (and published) writer that I would recommend highly."
Al Schirmacher, Pastor, Princeton Evangelical Free Church, and former President, Career Counseling & Search

Here are the kinds of book projects I've worked on:
Keep in mind that many professionals self publish or otherwise publish their books as a way of establishing their credentials in their field of expertise. While your book may prove to be a valuable profit center in and of itself, smart authors understand that a book's real value is in the doors that it opens for you. And here's the nice thing about all of this: You don't need to write it!

In most cases, I can write your book within six months. Sometimes I can write your book within 60 days or less. While the writing itself takes time, you must also allow time for me to completely absorb your important message so I can write intuitively about it. That's why I don't recommend rush jobs; the longer I can think through your message, the better job I'll do writing your book.

Here's that easy start link once again.
